What is Medicare and who qualifies?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people 65 and older, but it also covers certain younger individuals with disabilities or end-stage renal disease.
When can I enroll in Medicare?
Your Initial Enrollment Period begins 3 months before your 65th birthday, includes your birth month, and ends 3 months after. There are also Annual Enrollment Periods and Special Enrollment Periods for certain situations.
Do I need to sign up for Medicare if I’m still working?
It depends on your employer’s coverage. If you have credible coverage, you may be able to delay Medicare Part B without a penalty.
What is the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?
Original Medicare includes Parts A and B and allows you to see any doctor who accepts Medicare. Medicare Advantage (Part C) is offered by private companies and may include extra benefits like dental, vision, and hearing.
